ABERDEEN-BASED IT company Dynamic Edge Solutions has appointed Nick Pickering as business development manager.

The 38-year-old brings almost two decades of IT experience to the role, including work in educational, insurance, telecommunications, oil and gas and local government.

The move also sees Mr Pickering reprise a successful working relationship with Dynamic Edge managing director Rob Hamilton as the company looks to expand across Scotland and the rest of the UK.

Lincoln-born Mr Pickering, who went to school in Stonehaven and Westhill, started his IT career with Shell Expro in Altens.

He then worked for Hydro Electric and Computacenter before becoming a Microsoft e-mail specialist with BT at its research-and-development site in Ipswich, Suffolk.

After BT, Nick settled into a management role with an Essex-based insurance company which was later taken over by FTSE 100 company Capita.

He became a trouble-shooter for Capita, project managing and delivering a number of group-wide IT projects, such as a group e-mail solution, the in-house relocation of a data centre and providing IT strategy and support to a number of financial institutions and local education authorities in and around the Greater London area.

His extensive experience included an IT management role in Norfolk County Council’s planning and transportation department, where his responsibility was to provide IT management, strategy and support to all departmental staff.

After moving back to Aberdeen, he worked for IT service providers Technology Services Group and First eBusiness. It was at the latter company that Rob and Nick first met.

Rob Hamilton said: “Nick and I have worked extremely well together in the past and we will be looking to build on that at Dynamic Edge.

“Nick’s drive, ambition and technical know-how make him a valuable addition to the team we’re building at the company.”
