Dynamic Edge MD to give cloud computing talk at Aberdeen IT event

Monday 15 March 2010

A leading cloud computing expert will give a talk about next generation IT technology in Aberdeen this week.

Rob Hamilton, Managing Director of Dynamic Edge Solutions, will make his presentation to the Aberdeen branch of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, at the Satrosphere Science Centre, Constitution Street, on Friday, March 19. The event is fully booked.

The lunchtime discussion and seminar, entitled Cloud Computing: Getting More From Computing Resources, will also feature a key presentation by Dr Horacio Gonzalez-Velez FRSA (Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts), a lecturer and expert in cloud and grid computing at Robert Gordon University's School of Computing.

Rob said: "I'm looking forward to speaking at the event. Cloud computing is probably the most talked about subject in IT at the moment. If businesses aren't already talking about their cloud computing requirements, they should be looking to do so very soon.

"It's fascinating to be involved in the cloud computing sector as the pace of development is rapid and innovative."

As well as traditional IT support, Dynamic Edge Solutions deliver cloud computing solutions giving desktop PC and mobile computing users access to their software and data securely via the internet, meaning they can work from anywhere, anytime, using the Business Productivity Online Standard Suite (BPOS) of products.

BPOS was launched worldwide by Microsoft in May last year and Dynamic Edge was the first company in Scotland to be certified by Microsoft to deliver its online services solution.

Dr Gonzalez-Velez comments: "Cloud computing should dramatically change the scale and dynamics of computational and storage solutions. It shall enable on-demand resource exchange between parties, offering a great opportunity to broker idle resources to large organisations and, indeed, universities. At Robert Gordon University, we are continually developing our cloud computing expertise to spring up different research and commercial endeavours."

Aberdeen-based Dynamic Edge is also one of only 28 UK Microsoft Partners selected for the Accelerator Programme allowing them unique access to operation support, funding and advisory services.

The IT specialist is looking to grow the business across Scotland after securing several contract wins with companies in the Aberdeen area.
